Cmdr. Craig T. Mattingly, incoming
commanding officer, addresses the sailors of Patrol Squadron
9 and other guests during a change of command ceremony at
Hangar 104, May 3. Cmdr. Richard W. Prest, outgoing
commanding officer, turned command of VP-9 over to Mattingly
during the “Golden Eagles’” change of command ceremony.
“Today’s setting is nostalgic — Kaneohe Bay has a multitude
of colors which blends with the sky with our nation’s mighty
Orion aircraft sitting at rest underneath it, awaiting the
next mission,” Mattingly said. “The men and women of Patrol
Squadron 9 have given service with sacrifice while focusing
on others rather than themselves. So my first order as
commanding officer is an aloha day, because come Monday,
we’re back to accomplishing the mission.”
