Maj Jeffrey
Tennen
Major Tennen graduated the
University of California at Riverside in 1993 receiving a BA in
History. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1994. After
graduating Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia, he subsequently
was assigned to the 3d US Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). In
1998, Major Tennen executed an inter-service transfer from the
United States Army to the United States Marine Corps and received
his commission in April, 1998. He was assigned to 3d Light Armored
Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division where he served as a
Platoon Commander, Executive Officer and Company Commander.
In 2002, he reported to the
School of Infantry (West) where he served as Officer in Charge of
the Weapons Training Package at Infantry Training Battalion. In
2003, he was transferred to Light Armored Vehicle Company where he
was the Officer in Charge of the Light Armored Vehicle Leaders
Course.
In 2005, Major Tennen attended
the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
After graduating the course in 2006 Major Tennen received orders to
1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. In May of 2006, as a
casualty replacement Major Tennen was sent to Ramadi, Iraq to join
Military Transition Team 1/25. He was a Company Advisor to Company
1, 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, 7th Iraqi Army Division.
In Feb of 2007, Major Tennen
took command of Company A, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance
Battalion where he stayed in command until May of 2008.
In July of 2008 Major Tennen
was transferred to Marine Forces Pacific where he was assigned as
the NE Asia Desk Officer in the G-5. His desks included Japan,
Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong.
In Dec of 2011, Major Tennen
was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines where he is currently the
Battalion Executive Officer.
Major Tennen is a graduate of
US Army Infantry Basic Training, US Army Airborne School, US Army
Primary Leadership Development Course, Officer Candidate School. The
Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, LAV Leaders Course, US Army
Cavalry Leaders Course, Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, and
Marine Corps Command and Staff (non-resident) with honors.
His personal awards include the
Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
(Gold Star in Lieu of 2nd Award), The Navy and Marine Corps
Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement
Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of 2rd Award), the Army Good Conduct Medal,
and the Combat Action Ribbon.
