21 JULY 2011

ALOHA

Family and friends of Combat Assault Company, as the Company Commander I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for your support and sacrifice. In June, your Marines were hard at work on the Big Island of Hawaii in support of Lava Viper 11.2. We successfully supported America's Battalion, 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, during their mechanized infantry training and Fire Support Coordination Exercise (FSCEX). Also, we were fortunate to accomplish our own training objectives at Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) that included: land driving, land tactics, and shooting both the .50 caliber machine gun and the 40mm automatic grenade launcher.

Our AAV platoon has been doing a lot of great work these last 2 months. But we will not forget about our Engineering Platoon (the other half of Combat Assault Company) and 11 AAV crewmen who are still deployed with 1st Battalion, 3d Marines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). I want to extend my gratitude to the families of our deployed Marines for enduring their absence from home. Our deployed heroes have been doing great things in Afghanistan and will be coming home this fall.

Finally, I would like to introduce to you our new Company First Sergeant, 1stSgt Brewer, who comes to us from Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Again, thank you for your continued support to your Marines and Combat Assault Company. Your support is an integral part of the company's success. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to call me at 257-5869 or First Sergeant Brewer at 257-5279.

Capt Matthew "Pizza" Pizzulli
