The mission of
Headquarters Battalion is to provide superior
administrative, training (non-MOS specific), and program
support for the Marines and Sailors assigned to Marine
Corps Base Hawaii in order to increase combat readiness.
The Battalion is made up of two
companies; Headquarters Company and Service Company.
Headquarters Battalion is responsible for the
administrative support, military training, career
planning and legal assistance for over 800 Marines and
Sailors. The Battalion also participates in the Adopt-A
School Program with Puohala Elementary School on the
island of Oahu.
The Administration section provides
numerous services to include Personnel Administration,
Legal Administration, Leave Management, Awards, Fitness
Reports, Limited Duty tracking, Promotions, Defense
Travel System Orders Process, Postal, Command
Sponsorship, Files and Directives and all official
correspondence.
The Training section plans,
schedules, and conducts Professional Military Education,
Physical/Combat Fitness Tests, marksmanship training,
individual training standards, Chemical, Biological,
Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) defense training, and
Water Safety Survival training.
The Career Planner promotes the
reenlistment of all qualified Marines and provides
counseling on the opportunities and benefits of a Marine
Corps career.
The Substance Abuse Control Office
conducts random urinalysis testing, Level 1 substance
abuse awareness education and monitors after-care
treatment of personnel who have completed Level 2 and 3
of the rehabilitation program. The office also provides
liaison to the Joint Drug and Alcohol Center.
The S-4 provides logistical support
for Battalion events to include Battalion ceremonies,
functions and transportation for events. In addition
other services provided include, Armory support,
Supervision over Bn funds, Facilities related
assistance, and manages the barracks for all of
Headquarters Battalion.
